Bradford defeat Peterborough to reach EFL Cup quarter-finals
Bradford are through to the EFL Cup quarter-finals for the first time since they reached Wembley in 2013 with a 2-0 win over Peterborough.
Goals from Macaulay Gillesphey and Adam Phillips settled the all-League One affair at Valley Parade.
Brandon Khela drove wide from an early Peterborough chance but it was Bradford who took the lead on 13 minutes.
Manager Michael Duff had called for his side to be more productive from corners and they obliged when Callum Connolly’s set-piece was turned in by defender Gillesphey.
Reece Welch’s long pass sent Jake Beesley away but Peterborough keeper Alex Bass denied Bobby Pointon a second goal with a sprawling save.
Bass saved again from Ibou Touray’s low shot before Ethan Williams offered a threat at the other end just before the break.
Peterborough came out strongly and Jon McCracken saved from Owura Edwards and then denied Vernon Masara in a one-on-one. Williams went even closer when he hit the bar.
But Phillips scored a second for Bradford on 67 minutes and had another cleared off the line.
