Six more people arrested after Nottingham police officer shooting
A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a police officer was shot in the foot in Nottingham city centre.
Pc Lee Lane approached two people at a bus stop in Angel Row at 4.50am on October 18 when he was injured, and remains in hospital for treatment. Nottinghamshire Police said a 31-year-old man was arrested in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, on Tuesday evening on suspicion of possession of a firearm to endanger life and causing grievous bodily harm. The force said five other suspects were also arrested that day for assisting an offender, including two men aged 31 and 24, and three women aged 38, 38 and 21. Aisha Zaman, 27, of Collison Street, Hyson Green, was previously charged with possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of that firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. Nottingham Magistrates’ Court heard last month that Zaman is alleged to have taken the weapon from a man before putting it inside her jacket. Prosecutors said the gun fell to the floor and discharged after the officer arrived in Angel Row. Jahmal Ruddock-Senior, 35, of Gaul Street in Bulwell has been charged with assisting an offender in relation to the incident. Zaman and Ruddock-Senior are due to appear at the city’s crown court later this month. Police said two men, aged 24 and 30, and two women, aged 25 and 21, previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been released on bail while inquiries continue. A 33-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and assisting an offender has also been bailed. Police ask anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident 106 of October 18 2026 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
