More than 100 firefighters on scene of blaze near Wembley Stadium
Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters have been sent to a blaze close to Wembley Stadium in north-west London.
London Fire Brigade was called on Friday morning to the fire at an industrial estate in Neasden, just under a mile from the famous venue. Huge plumes of smoke could be seen in the sky in videos posted on social media and more than 70 calls were made reporting the blaze. There is no service on the entire Metropolitan Line, which is near the blaze, and no service between Willesden Green and Wembley Park on the Jubilee Line, with minor delays on the rest of the line, Transport for London said. London Fire Brigade’s website says: “Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters are responding to a fire on Hannah Close, Neasden. “The fire is located on an industrial estate. Three of the Brigade’s 32m ladders have been mobilised to the scene as part of our response. “Residents in the immediate area should close doors and windows, remaining inside where possible, due to the large amount of smoke being produced. “The brigade’s control room took the first of over 70 calls reporting the fire at 11.34am. Crews from Wembley, Park Royal, Willesden and surrounding fire stations have been mobilised to the scene. “The cause of the fire is not yet known.”
