Boy, seven, dies after incident at Essex beach

A seven-year-old boy has died following an incident at a beach which left his teenage cousin and her mother dead, the police have said.

Musa Ahmed, his cousin Sameeha Rahman, 15, her mother Shelina Rahman, 41, were in the water along with three other family members when they got into difficulty in West Mersea in Essex on July 22.

Sameeha and Shelina Rahman, from the Ilford area in east London, died, while Musa was flown to hospital where he was being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Essex Police announced on Wednesday that he has died as a result of the incident.

In a statement issued by police, his family said: “We would also like to thank the Royal London Hospital intensive care unit team of doctors and nurses who demonstrated outstanding care and dignity for whilst we have been at the hospital.

“We would also like to thank the whole community for their support and prayers.

“We would appreciate privacy during this very difficult time.”
