Dan Evans to retire after Wimbledon
He reached a career-high world ranking of 21 during the summer of 2023
Great Britain’s Dan Evans has announced he is to retire from tennis after this summer’s Wimbledon.
The 36-year-old, who reached a career-high world ranking of 21 during the summer of 2023, will call it a day with two ATP Tour titles to his name.
Evans was also part of the British team which won the Davis Cup in 2015.
In a post on his Instagram account, he wrote: “After an incredible journey, I wanted to share some personal news with you all. I will be retiring from professional tennis following this year’s Wimbledon championships.
“This sport has given me everything. The friendships, the experiences, the battles and even the hard days were special in hindsight. I have loved every single minute of being a professional tennis player.
“To my parents, my wife and my family, thank you for your unwavering support through every high and low. None of this would have been possible without your support.
“To every coach, trainer, physio, sponsor and member of my team over the years, the list is too long to name individually, but each of you played a part in shaping my career and I am truly grateful.
“Representing Great Britain in both Davis Cup and the Olympics remains the greatest honour of my career and something I will cherish for the rest of my life.
“I’m looking forward to finishing on a high across these final two tournaments and giving everything I have one last time. Thank you for the support. Evo.”
